You might have questions about counselling, or be unsure if it’s right for you.

It’s completely normal to feel this way, especially if this is your first time reaching out for support. Here are some answers to common questions that may help you feel more at ease.

Not at all.

You don’t need a diagnosis or the right words, a clear plan, or complete clarity to begin. Many people reach out because they need someone to talk to, something doesn’t feel quite right, or they feel stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand.

That in itself is enough.

Counselling offers a space to slow down and make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface.

You might benefit from counselling if you find yourself:

  • Overthinking, even small decisions, and struggling to switch off
  • Feeling overwhelmed, easily triggered, or mentally exhausted
  • Feeling emotionally drained, even when nothing “big” has happened
  • Stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand
  • Repeating similar experiences in relationships
  • Struggling with academics/work, motivation or everyday tasks
  • Going through a transition or difficult period in life
  • Wanting to understand yourself more deeply, even if nothing feels “wrong”

Together, we explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in a way that feels safe and manageable. This process can help you recognise patterns, understand what may be driving them, and begin to respond to situations with more clarity and intention.

Over time, counselling can support you in feeling less overwhelmed, building self-awareness, and developing practical ways to cope, so you can move through life with a greater sense of understanding and steadiness.

Sessions offer a confidential, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can speak openly.

A standard session typically lasts between 50 to 60 minutes. Longer sessions can be arranged where appropriate. You can decide the number of sessions based on your needs, whether that’s a few sessions or ongoing support over a longer period.

We work collaboratively, at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you. Along the way, we balance reflection with practical tools that best support you in your wellbeing journey.

Talking to someone you trust can be incredibly helpful, and it’s an important part of support. Sometimes, the people closest to us care deeply, but may not always have the space, perspective, or tools to help us process things fully.

Counselling, however, offers something different.

Counselling provides a dedicated professional space that is entirely focused on you, without expectations, pressure, or bias. A trained practitioner can help you explore your experiences more objectively, recognise patterns, and guide deeper reflection.

This work can complement the support you already have, helping you better understand what you’re going through and how to move forward with strength.
